and Happy!

So let's all put our heads together and find ways to "make happy"! Yea, I know it's poor grammar....

I would like to see you add things (that don't cost anything) that make you happy.

I am listing some of my favorites (in no particular order) below:

  • Wrapping up in a warm blankey and watching a good movie or reading a book
  • Squishing my nephew
  • petting my cat
  • a hot cup of cocoa with tons of marshmallows
  • cuddling with someone I love
  • soaking in a hot tub with lots of bubbles
  • bubbles in the office on fridays!
  • hearing a new song that I like
  • turning up the radio and singing as loud as I can
  • dancing when no one is looking
  • laughing til I cry
  • helping a friend
  • having a great dream
  • good conversations with friends
  • going through old photos

When I think of more I'll add them . but for now, let's hear what you have to say....

Happiness

Happiness can be found in the littlest things in life I was just standing outside today ( it's 81 outside with a slight breeze) and besides the traffic (which can be turned off in your mind) there was the sound of birds chirping and dogs barking in the distance. My dad always told me when I was younger (mind you I was a single parent with 2 kids to support) to stop and smell the roses, I didn't listen to him , as young people don't, but now I have time to stop and smell the roses. If I would have listened to him I probably would't be in the condition I am in.  I am educated but always worked labor intense jobs I have worked high profile job also.  I think I worked like that to prove something to my dad, not sure what.  He was military as was my grandfather and great-grandfather before him. I wanted to go into the Air Force, took the ASVAB test and passed but didn't make the physical  part so I guess maybe  decided then to work hard as hard as if I did get in.  The best job I ever had was in Telluride Colorado I was te supervisor of the bakery in town I had a good boss he has owned the place since the 70's he is a hard worker also (maybe alittle OCD).  I learned ALOT from him as he is a very respected man in town.  I miss being around people, sure I have my kids around but it's just not the same I moved here to Denver 5 years ago from the western slope.  So I don't know anyone here-not really and I miss getting out there trying to make friends (it's so true when you get older it's harder to make friends then it was when you are young...lol).  My kids are my life I am so proud of each of them. Mike (the oldest) is excelling in his job but I see myself in him and tell him the same thing my dad use to say, Steve is a great kid he is kind and compassionate, he DOES stop to smell the roses...lol, he wants to study photo-journalism I think that is AWESOME I swapped some clothes for a video camera for him and am getting ready to check out a laptop from a friend that I will swap a table for but he needs these things for school and I just can't afford them. Rianna (is the baby) is so energetic and happy (now) she is getting ready for the 8th grade and she wants to volunteer her time (she said since she can't work...lol) and start getting really involved in the community...I think that is the way she should go she has such a great personality I am trying to get her to so theater as a extra course next year.  So as I see it I have many things to be happy for, plus when the sun comes up in the morning (OMG THE SUN RISES ARE SO PRETTY) Please take time for yourself even if it's 5 minutes just to smell a rose, listen to a bird sing or to watch the sun rise--it will make your day a little brighter

Checkn in and sharing my life

Sorry i havent been here in a while. Life is back to full time! kids in school im in school and everthing in between that! I love my classes, am really excited this go around. I get my testing completed tuesday to see if i have a learning disability. Very movies how they test. Makes u want to do your best. Its important to know our full potienl I know im  smart as a whip, but i think i learn differently than most. No big deal!!!!! Well still in the struggle, everyday is a new problem, but like most things in life we have to take care of our life and loved ones one day at i time. One problem at a time. The best thing that happened to me this month.

Im a big fan of exposing children to as much as possible, sports, acting, books, music, history, ect.... Thats very hard to do when your a mother of 3 boys, and the money is not there....BUT.. :) there is a boxing, kick boxing, brand new, just 2 blocks from my house.  i have wanting to get my 10 year old in therefor 4 months now. He is my son with a learning disability. Loves sports, and just has a golden outlook on family, and being a good person. Often he is hurting in side, and has no outlet. I talked to those great people there, they gave my son 1 free month. martial arts included and 80 a month. I live in a small town, and was very blessed. Now i know how imporant it is to keep him in the program. He loves it.The feeling i got from helping get somewhere new in life was the biggest reward i could have. P.S After his first day, he was so excited as if it was christmas eve.

About Robbie37

I'm 41, and have been w/out work since December. I am a member of the US Army Reserve, (MP). We have been very blessed this year, though the blessings seem to be running out. I found work in August, but the boss never paid me.

My wife is a student and don't graduate till next year. Our church has helped us but now even they can't afford us. I feel so ashamed, I feel guilty if I laugh at anything. I don't feel that I should be happy or even eat. I feel that if I don't work, I don't deserve anything. Is there anyone who can help?

10 Step Program For Happiness

  1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctor worry about them. That is why you pay him/her.

  2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

  3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop," The devil's name is Depression.

  4. Enjoy the simple things. When the children are young, that is all that you can afford. When they are in college, that is all that you can afford. When you are on retirement, that is all that you can afford.

  5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. Laugh so much that you can be tracked in the store by your distinctive laughter.

  6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be alive while you are alive, don't put out a mailbox on the highway of death and just wait in residence for your mail.

  7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it is family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

  8. Cherish your health. If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

  9. Don't take guilt trips. Go to the mall, the next county, foreign country, but not to guilt country.

  10. Tell the people you love, that you love them, at every opportunity. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Today, may there be peace within you. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. "I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

Crooked Smile

As we rolled five-year-old Mary into the MRI room, I tried to imagine what she must be feeling. She had suffered a stroke that left half of her body paralyzed, had been hospitalized for treatment of a brain tumor, and had recently lost her father, her mother and her home. We all wondered how Mary would react.

She went into the MRI machine without the slightest protest, and we began the exam. At that time, each imaging sequence required the patient to remain perfectly still for about five minutes. This would have been difficult for anyone - and certainly for a five-year-old who had suffered so much. We were taking an image of her head, so any movement of her face, including talking, would result in image distortion.

About two minutes into the first sequence, we noticed on the video monitor that Mary's mouth was moving. We even heard a muted voice over the intercom. We halted the exam and gently reminded Mary not to talk. She was smiling and promised not to talk.

We reset the machine and started over. Once again we saw her facial movement and heard her voice faintly. What she was saying wasn't clear. Everyone was becoming a little impatient, with a busy schedule that had been put on hold to perform an emergency MRI on Mary.

We went back in and slid Mary out of the machine. Once again, she looked at us with her crooked smile and wasn't upset in the least. The technologist, perhaps a bit gruffly, said, "Mary, you were talking again, and that causes blurry pictures."

Mary's smile remained as she replied, "I wasn't talking. I was singing. You said no talking." We looked at each other, feeling a little silly.

"What were you singing?" someone asked.

"Jesus Loves Me," came the barely perceptible reply. "I always sing `Jesus Loves Me' when I'm happy."

Everyone in the room was speechless. "Happy? How could this little girl be happy?" The technologist and I had to leave the room for a moment to regain our composure as tears began to fall.

Many times since that day, when feeling stresses, unhappy or dissatisfied with some part of my life, I have thought of Mary and felt both humbled and inspired. Her example made me see that happiness is a marvelous gift - free to anyone willing to accept it.

Hello and Happy Sunday!!!

Ah, I know that many of us wonder how we ahve found ourself in certain situations.  I myself, am blessed to have secured a great position - as the economy, underneath starts to revivve and will even more so as time moves on- in an area of helping secure positions for others....yet here is my dilemma, having come through a wild storm of divorce after a 20 year marriage and now on September 1st, my home goes on the court house steps.....I know how blessed I am to be on my way to helping others  - here is my dilemma...I have found an apartment 10 miles from my new position, a great opportunity for me to rent from a single parent and help her and her daughter out at the same time of keeping on track with filling open positions for others....and she has been so kind as to only ask for the first months rent down and a couple of letters of reference.  If I pay the rent, I won't have any gas money to get to work  or eat- what a conundrum this one is.....I know there are many people, wondering how they are goin to feed their kids and more....so it is with heavy but a happy heart that I ask for direction on finding the funds in the next couple of days to put down on the apartment and keep this young lady on track with her obligations as well.

I thank YOU - with peace and grace.

Faye!

I found a home for my children, but because of my 'fair' credit, I am unable to qualify for a mortgage loan on my own. I'm looking for a way to better my life and the lives of my children. A safe, stable home will do that. Please send your prayers so that I may find a way to provide a place for my children to grow and be happy. Thank you - God bless.

Self Motivation and Positive Attitude
By Tess Thompson

Self motivation and positive attitude are almost intertwined. A positive attitude is a prerequisite to self motivation and therefore it is essential that if one wants to stay motivated at all times one should adopt a positive mental attitude http://www.nativeremedies.com/products/mindsoothe-emotional-wellness-info.html.

However, attaining a positive attitude is not easy. It requires you to be in a state of general happiness, which can be attained only if you are at peace with yourself.

Man has tried to ‘find happiness’ for years. But it is ironical that he searches for this happiness in places far and wide while it can be found only within oneself. The real search for happiness starts by looking ‘inside’ and understanding the real purpose of ones life. It is important to realize the happiness is relative in nature and that while some find it in work, achievement and success, others find it in love, relationships and family ties, affectionate friendships and in faith.

It is also important to understand that is one tries to seek happiness in external material gains or even in external manifestations of love from others, there is only disappointment to be found. The main idea is to accept your strengths, weaknesses, capabilities, situation and life as it is. Complete acceptance of the situation leads to a feeling of contentment and happiness at what you have.

A positive perspective towards all events in life can lead to happiness and emotional wellness http://www.nativeremedies.com/products/mindsoothe-emotional-wellness-info.html. As the saying goes, “I was pining about the fact that I did not have shoes, when I saw a man without feet”.

However, all of the above does not mean that you should lead yourself to total contentment and complacency. It is necessary that you dissociate your happiness from the daily efforts that you need to make to make your life better. By all means, set material objectives for yourself and do everything in your scope to make them possible. But do not allow the success of these efforts to rule your overall attitude and well being.

Over time, you will realize that it is this positive attitude and the ability to motivate yourself under any circumstances that aids you in the process of achieving your goals. Optimism can break the dismal ropes of negativity and rationalism and can help you accomplish tasks that otherwise seem impossible. A positive attitude can help you take failure in your stride.

When you are ‘happy’ and have a positive attitude, you do not need to rely on external motivation to achieve and accomplish goals. On the other hand, in the absence of self motivation, initial spurts in motivation caused by external sources, tend to wear off after the initial euphoria.

A spiritual understanding of life, a positive attitude, proper perspective of the events of life can help you achieve a continuous state of motivation. Such a high level of self motivation can stand the test of mood swings http://www.nativeremedies.com/products/mindsoothe-emotional-wellness-info.html, transient depression or failures. In my case this also helped for recovery!

Forgiveness and Gratitude

We are the captains of our own vessels.  We must steer from the helm with foresight and vision of the direction we wish to go, otherwise we will be tossing around in the sea of calamity.

I read, listen, write, and draw for inspiration.  I receive several emails throughout the week that uplift my spirit, and confirm that i am the awesome human i am, and that we all are.

I want to share a message with you.  I recently grieved the loss of a young man, 22 years of age, who was in my life for only a few months in the last year.  He touched my life and everyone around with his talented voice and guitar playing, his frolicking spirit of joy and play, his freedom from being hung up on thoughts, and ability to express his emotion instead of inhibit them.

There are people in your life that you have loved and lost. There are careers, situations, friends, businesses, homes, pets, activities, income levels, and places you've lived that you greatly enjoyed and no longer have.
The loss of the things you care about may cause you great sorrow. And from your current state of misery, you create a future that will also be full of misery.
I don't care how many "secrets" you know, if you are unhappy you will never be able to create your life the way you want it to be - full of love, laughter, friends, and a lifestyle that you prefer.
  • As long as you have people sucking your energy and draining you, you will never be happy.
  • As long as you have people in your life that criticize, belittle, and treat you unkindly, you will never be happy.
  • As long as you blame yourself or others for anything, you will never be happy.

You are the captain of this ship, you can choose anywhere to anchor, anywhere to explore,  and how you will sail to your destination.  Don't let yourself be moored to the rocks, or adrift in the turbulent ocean for very long.  This is your life, and whatever obstacles come your way, see them as possiblities to become stronger, healthier, and prosperous because you have the experience of seeing the shortcomings and finding the way out.  I believe in you!
